‘I Am Number Four’ screenwriter Marti Noxon has signed onto pen the script for the film adaptation of the bestselling novel “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”, Collider is reporting. The movie version of the parody book, which was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, will be directed by Craig Gillespie. The two previously worked together on the upcoming remake of the vampire film ‘Fright Night,’ starring Colin Farrell and Anton Yelchin.
The news of Noxon penning a draft of the ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ film comes after ‘The Fighter’ director David O. Russell wrote a version of the movie for Lionsgate. Michael Bacall also signed on to work on the script, but Gillespie overlooked the ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ writer’s version after he was brought on to direct the film in April.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies follows zombie-killing heroine Elizabeth Bennet as she struggles to save her quiet village of Meryton, England, from the undead. However, her efforts are interrupted when she becomes distracted by fellow zombie hunter Fitzwilliam Darcy. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy become lovers, and must fight not only the zombies overtaking Meryton, but the class system still plaguing English society. The film has yet to sign any stars, as Natalie Portman dropped out of the lead role to just produce the comedy.
