Actor Matthew Goode may be playing the lead role in ‘Stoker’ from producers Tony and Ridley Scott. Goode is said to be hashing out a deal (per Variety) to play “the mysterious uncle of a young girl, who mourns the death of her father.” If Goode takes the lead he will join the already committed line up of actresses, Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska.
Stoker will be directed by Chan-wook Park, who will be making his debut with a script from Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller. Previously Colin Firth was said to be up for the part, as well as a number of high profile Hollywood faces like James Franco, Michael Fassbender, and Joel Edgerton. Luckily Goode was nabbed for the role. His performance in Leap Year, opposite future Lois Lane star, Amy Adams, and Watchman, proves he has the talents. And from the description of his character (although its slim) in Stoker, he shouldn’t have any problems pulling off the role.
Goode is also committed to a few other big screen pictures. In the 2012 production of Burning Man he’ll play Tom. He is also attached to appear in the action flick Overdrive, opposite I Am Number Four star Alex Pettyfer, and Crooked House.
