TNT will now be airing episodes of ABC’s Castle, starring Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, come 2012. Purchasing the rights, TNT announced the news Wednesday. Does this mean less Law and Order reruns?! Let’s hope.
“With the addition of ‘Castle,’ TNT continues to build a collection of hit shows that will perfectly complement our high profile original series,: stated Michael Wright, executive VP, head of programming for TNT.
For those who aren’t fans – Castle follows novelist Richard “Rick” Castle, who attracts the sick and twisted interest of a serial killer imitating his murderous plots in real life. Out to stop the killer, Castle teams up with an NYPD homicide investigation unit. TNT is rumored to have purchased the crime drama for roughly $1.3 million. They have also acquired the rights to both CBS’ reboot Hawaii Five-O and The Mentalist with Simon Baker and Robin Tunney.
Currently TNT’s daytime slate features Charmed, Supernatural, Bones, Las Vegas, and CSI. In recent times the network has however been stepping up their game by acquiring original programming like Franklin and Bash, Memphis Beat, Men of a Certain Age, and the upcoming series from Steven Spielberg – Falling Skies.
You can expect to see Castle in syndication sometime next Summer.
