Columbia Pictures is moving forward with their adaption of Risk the board game. Ready to pump some life into the Hasbro game, that hit the market back in the late 1950’s under a different name, the movie giant has signed a deal with John Hlavin to write a script. Risk will play out in modern day times, with an action thriller theme. How Hlavin plans on bringing the board game to life isn’t know as of yet, but there should be plenty to play from since the major focus of the game is world domination.
This isn’t the first game to be adapted for the big screen. Friday Night Lights director Peter Berg just finished up on the big screen adaption of Battleship with Rihanna and Taylor Kitsch. And don’t forget about McG’s Ouija! Casting news for Risk should be coming down the pike shortly. We’ll keep you posted.
John Hlavin’s writing credits include episodes of The Shield and the TV series LAX. He has also worked on Trust Me, the small screen series Day Break, E-Ring and the well known feature The Gunslinger. What do you think of Risk as a big screen adaption? Let us know below.
