KSL TV, an affiliate of the NBC Network, of Salt Lake City, won’t be airing the upcoming drama ‘Playboy Club’ this coming Fall! KSL has sited that the series from creator Chad Hodge, that travels back in time to 1963, following the days of the first Playboy club in Chicago and its bunnies, isn’t appropriate. KSL also went on to explain that since the Playboy brand is “known internationally” airing such a program is against their moral code.
KSL is operated under the guidelines of the Mormon Church. I have to say at first glance a title like the Playboy Club conjures a few thoughts, but since it was picked up by NBC, it can’t be that racy, although the network did ask the cast to sign off on a nudity clause, according to Variety, for DVD purposes! According to Washington Post’s TV Column blog, the series may air on the CW instead.
The cast includes Amber Heard. Eddie Cibrian, and David Krumholzt. Check out the shows trailer, and it’s official synopsis of what’s to come below. From the sounds of it NBC may be on to something here, the show seems to have substance and not just bunnies! Will it be around long enough to infuriate the conservative?
“Step inside the seductive world of the Bunny, the epitome of beauty and service, and rub shoulders with the decade’s biggest mobsters, politicos and entertainers (like Tina Turner and Sammy Davis, Jr.) With all these larger than life ambitions, there are even greater secrets. Like when innocent new Bunny Maureen – who wants to take the world by storm – accidentally kills one of the Windy City’s most powerful mafia bosses… and the only person capable of covering it up and protecting her is Nick Dalton, a man who once worked for the mob but is about to run for district attorney. Bunny Alice is married but hiding an explosive personal life while Bunny Janie is running from a past that threatens to catch up with her. It seems everyone has a secret – none more so than Maureen, who may not even be the innocent orphan she appears to be. Thank goodness Hef’s Playboy Mansion is open after hours for a little R&R… and burying your past.”
