‘Easy A’ actress Emma Stone will continue to play the outsider in her next film entitled ‘The Help’. Directed by Winter’s Bone Tate Taylor, with a fresh new UK trailer just released, Stone plays Skeeter, a young girl living in Mississippi in the 1960’s. Based on the 2009 book of the same name by author Kathryn Stockett’s, The Help chronicle Stone’s post college adventures as a writer, who dares to be different when she interviews a black woman, publishing a point of view piece during times of discrimination. Here’s a snippet of the plot:
“three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed-even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times..”
The trailer features Emma Stone alongside a cast ensemble of Viola Davis, Sissy Spacek, Allison Janney, Bryce Dallas Howard, and actress Octavia Spencer. The Help hits theaters this summer on August 12th 2011.
