Tom Cruise has been offered the role of Jack Reacher in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming thriller ‘One Shot,’ ComingSoon is reporting. The movie is based on the 2005 Lee Child novel of the same name, and will be written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie.
‘One Shot’ is the ninth novel in the Reacher series, and follows a lone gunman who opens fire in a public plaza in a small Indiana city. The shooter, James Barr, leaves a trail, and the police easily track him. After he’s arrested, Barr will only talk to Reacher. However, by the time Reacher arrives in town, Barr is beaten badly enough that he forgets everything about the shooting.
Cruise and McQuarrie previously worked together on the 2008 historical drama ‘Valkyrie,’ as the latter co-wrote the script. Besides ‘One Shot,’ Cruise is also set to star in the fourth ‘Mission: Impossible’ film, ‘Ghost Protocol,’ as well as the theatrical adaptation of ‘Rock of Ages.’
