Nicholas Sparks fans from around the globe will be gushing with happiness after this latest tid bit of news. Sparks has just sealed a new movie deal for his upcoming novel ‘The Best of Me’. Although the next romance drama in his long list of works isn’t due out to hit bookshelves until October 11th, Warner Brothers has already acquired the rights and will be bringing the predictable page turner to the big screen.
The Best of Me follows Sparks’ normal format. Its about “two small-town former high school sweethearts from opposite sides of the tracks. Now middle-aged, they’ve taken wildly divergent paths, but neither has lived the life they imagined . . . and neither can forget the passionate first love that forever altered their world. When they are both called back to their hometown for the funeral of the mentor who once gave them shelter, they will be forced to confront the choices each has made, and ask whether love can truly rewrite the past.”
Sparks is set to executive produce the film with Denise DiNovi of Life As We Know It, and The Lucky One, also a Sparks novel being adapted. Theresa Park is on board as co-producer. Filming dates and a release has yet to be revealed. This latest deal marks the writers eighth movie to be adapted. He also has the Lucky One on the way with Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling headlining the big screen feature. We’ll keep you posted.
