Within the span of five years Doug Jones has popped up in three of Guillermo del Toro’s movies (“Hellboy,” “Hellboy II,” “Pan’s Labyrinth”). These two clearly have a great working relationship if Mr. Jones keeps appearing in a movie of del Toro’s here and there. Perhaps he’s due for another one?
I arrived at the red carpet for the 37th Annual Saturn Awards, a show that honors every television show and film having to do with science fiction, horror and fantasy. Luckily I got the chance to talk to famed actor and Saturn Award show presenter Doug Jones, as you will see from the video below, but there was a particular answer that I certainly did not forget.
Doug Jones may not be marked down to appear in any of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming films, but what if it’s all secret for the time being? When he was gushing about how much fun it was to work with del Toro, he mentioned about how there could be possible plans for an upcoming project.
Doug Jones: “I hope to be working more with him in the future. We have plans.”
ShockYa: “Are you looking to squeeze yourself into ‘Pacific Rim’?”
Doug Jones: “We haven’t talked about that specifically, “Pacific Rim,” yet but there’s time. He was talking about wanting to film sometime in the fall so we’ll see what happens.”
Who knows whether or not he’ll actually end up in “Pacific Rim.” However, after a little bit of snooping, the only project that del Toro is directing in the near future is “Pacific Rim,” which is scheduled to begin shooting this September. Along with that, the only couple of projects that del Toro is producing are both animated films. Either way, my bet is he could be in “Pacific Rim,” but we’ll see.
Small correction on the write up. Doug worked for Guillermo four times. You missed MIMIC.
I think Doug’s actually speaking about FRANKENSTEIN, not PACIFIC RIM when he talks about he and Guillermo ‘having plans.’
