It has been a long eight years since the release of a Jane’s Addiction studio album. Well knowing these guys, the wait is probably well worth it. The iconic trio, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins, are set to release their newest album, “The Great Escape Artist”, late this summer via Capitol Records. Jane’s Addiction reached out to Rich Costey to produce the new record and also brought TV on the Radio’s, Dave Sitek, into the album’s creative team.
The legendary rockers have released the video for their single “End To The Lies,” off of their new album. Directed by the Emmy Award-winning ShadowMachine Films, the music video is a rock n’ roll breath of fresh air. By placing performance images of the band beside a variety of dark, haunting and sexy imagery, the “End To The Lies” music video represents the out of body experience rock music of the 80s imposes onto its listeners. As you watch the video, your eyes become fixated on the psychedelic and predominately black and white graphics. The intense visual stimulation doesn’t overpower the instrumental and vocal strength of the tune. Both elements are at the same playing field. When listening to the single alone, you immediately are made aware of just why the members of Jane’s Addiction are known as the alternative rock pioneers. Check out the track’s video on Vevo.
The craze around Jane’s Addiction keeps on circling with the news that the band has been inducted into the historic Guitar Center RockWalk in Hollywood, CA. With an induction speech from the iconic guitarist Tom Merello, Jane’s Addiction joined other memorable artists like Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Elvis Presley and more. Jane’s Addiction and the Guitar Center are further strengthening their bond by partnering up to offer an unsigned artist a chance to open for the band through the innovative “Guitar Center On-Stage” program. The unsigned artist will also win $20,000 in new gear from Gibson and Epiphone, a $10,000 Guitar Center shopping spree and a mentoring session for Prospect Park, the management team behind Jane’s Addiction. Unsigned bands nationwide can submit their music now.
