Friday Night Lights actress Adrianne Palicki (and leading lady of the recently failed Wonder Woman series) is switching gears! Trading in her DC alter ego, Palicki is now on board the second installment of G.I. Joe, titled Cobra Strikes, as Lady Jaye. For the unknown, Jaye (aka Alison R. Hart-Burnett) is a seriously kick butt covert operations guru of sorts who surfaced in the 80’s, and is friends with G.I. Joe.
Palicki joins the returning cast of Channing Tatum, who plays the title character, Ray Park back as Snake Eyes and Byung-hun Lee in the role of Storm Shadow. No word yet on whether or not we’ll see the return of Joseph Gordon Levitt as Rex, or if the script even includes his character. But we will see new members Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock, RZA as Blind Master, actor D.J. Cotrona in the role of Flint (Lady Jaye’s love interest), as well as and Elodie Yung on board as Jinx.
G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes is set to be directed by Jon Chu, with Stephen Sommers, director of the first installment, no longer on board. Although I appreciate Sommers work (The Mummy, The Jungle Book), I can’t wait to to see what Chu does with this new 2012 sequel, I wasn’t a huge fan of the first G.I. movie. Let’s hope this one is better. It has the potential, especially with The Rock on board, and the rough and tough, but gorgeous Adrianne Palicki.
