Ashton Kutcher will officially join ‘Two and a Half Men’ on August 1, 2011 when he and the rest of the cast report to the set for the first read-through of the ‘No Strings Attached’ star’s debut episode, AOL TV is reporting. Kutcher’s highly anticipated first episode, the Season 9 premiere, will air September 19.
The episode will reportedly follow the death of Charlie Sheen’s character, Charlie Harper. There’s no official word yet on how Kutcher’s character will be introduced into the storyline.
Sheen, meanwhile, may soon sign a cable sitcom deal with Lionsgate. The show, which would premiere in the fall of 2012, would most likely be a take on the actor’s real life. Sheen would play a version of himself, an actor with personal demons, and would reportedly own a piece of the show himself.
The show would offer fewer language and nudity restrictions than ‘Two and a Half Men’ for Sheen. While neither Sheen or Lionsgate has publicly commented on the new show, they both reportedly want the show to air before ‘Two and a Half Men’ premieres its tenth season, if it’s renewed.
But the ‘Two and a Half Men’ Season 9 premiere is expected to be a big money-maker for CBS and Warner Bros. TV. It’s predicted that it will be one of the most-watched sitcom episodes ever. The show’s executives are so determined to keep details of the premiere a secret that they’re considering taping it without a live studio audience.
