Adriann Palicki is the latest actress to sign on to appear in Paramount’s upcoming ‘G.I. Joe’ sequel, ‘G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes,’ Reelzchannel is reporting. The former ‘Friday Night Lights’ star will portray Lady Jaye, the team’s covert operations specialist.
As in the Marvel comic books, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have include Lady Jaye’s romance with Flint, who will be portrayed by D.J. Cotrona in the film. Other new characters to the sequel will be Jinz, who will be played by French actress Elodie Yung of ‘District 13: Ultimatum.’ Dwayne Johnson has also been hired as the heavy machine gunner and aspiring chef Roadblock.
However, the character of Joe Colton has yet to be cast. Joe is an original character from the comic book series who debuted in 1964. Bruce Willis is one of the actors reportedly being considered for the role of the G.I. Joe General.
The 3-D sequel, which is being helmed by ‘Step Up 2’ and its sequel director Jon Chu, is set to be released in 3D on August 10, 2012. Only a few characters from the original 2009 G.I. Joe film, ‘The Rise of Cobra,’ will be returning for the sequel, including Duke, played by Channing Tatum; Snake Eyes, portrayed by Ray Park; and Storm Shadow, played by Lee Byung-hun.
