Director Jon Chu (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and Step Up 3D), who is directing the second installment of “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes” has found his villain. “Thor” actor Ray Stevenson has now officially been cast in the role of Firefly according to reports from the always reliable Hollywood Reporter. Stevenson, also known for his work in the Punisher: War Zone as the character Frank Castle, is set to portray the Cobra mercenary whose an expert at martial arts and explosives. And like I have said before – I wasn’t a huge fan on how the first G.I. Joe installment turned out, but this follow up sounds like it’s moving on the right track.
Now with Stevenson on board, and the return of Channing Tatum, the flick also includes The Rock. Yes, Dwayne Johnson in the role of Roadblock. As well as Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, Ray Park, Lee Byung-hun, RZA and D.J. Cotrona. Filming is expected to start next month in Louisiana with G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes hitting theaters on August 12th 2012.
