With all of the game adaptions coming heavy into play these days, it’s no surprise that a “Space Invaders” movie could be on the way. According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who has worked on Transformers and the movie Shooter, as well as Gigi Pritzker, of both Rabbit Hole and Drive fame, plan on bringing the classic video game to the big screen. And after checking out the duo’s enormous credentials via IMDb.Com, it looks like they could easily pull it off.
For the unknown, Space Invaders is a iconic video arcade game from the late 70’s that’s all about shooting aliens. Maybe you’ve heard numerous references in some of your favorite TV shows over the years? There’s definitely some material to work with there. And since Bonaventura is also working on an Asteroids movie, while Pritzker is on board the Ender’s Game, this appears to be right up their ally. All they need is a script writer to breath some life into the Space Invaders flick that most likely won’t upset fans since THR points out – there’s no lore behind the story. Looks like there’s endless possibilities here. What do you think? Would you check out a Space Invaders movie?
