Members of The Creative Coalition, including Patricia Arquette, Omar Epps and the organization’s president, Tim Daly, will be meeting with the White House’s Office of Public Engagement today, Tuesday, July 19. The meeting is part of America’s Champions of Change and President Barack Obama’s Winning the Future initiative, which is designed to “out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the rest of the world.”
The dialogue, which will be hosted by the Department of Education and White House Policy Officials, will be aimed at amplifying the best practices learned in the areas of arts and arts education. Daly has said “Hollywood is a creative community filled with passionate ideas and we are excited to work with President Obama’s administration in his efforts to gather helpful viewpoints from all Americans.” The actor also said he hopes the coalition, which is a nonprofit social and public advocacy organization of the arts and entertainment community, “can inspire policymakers to make the arts a topic of priority.”
After the White House event, The Creative Coalition will host a dinner with Washington policymakers and opinion leaders. At the dinner, they will discuss the state of the arts and arts education, and how it can be preserved in American classrooms during the current economic crisis.
