This week on FilmFan, Sami Jarroush took on “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Friends with Benefits.” Here’s what he had to say.

With the summer beginning to dwindle down, Jarroush said that “Captain America” might be your best bet at a last big summertime action/superhero movie. Even though some entries into the comic book superhero genre were mediocre at best (like “Green Lantern”), Jarroush said the buzz behind “Captain America” looks to be promising, seeing how everyone, fanboys and everyone else alike, have given this film the thumbs-up. Just make sure to stay after the credits in order to see the Easter egg footage concerning “The Avengers” movie. Also mentioned in the analysis is that the 1940’s film serials are available for your viewing pleasure at archive.org.

“Friends with Benefits” has been declared a repeat of “No Strings Attached” starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher, but according to Jarroush, whereas “No Strings Attached” wasn’t funny, “Friends with Benefits” might have more hilarious moments due to Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, two actors who have proven themselves to be funny (Timberlake from his “SNL” skits and Kunis from “That ’70s Show” and as the voice of Meg on “Family Guy”). However, it remains to be seen if they can carry a film, since this is the first film both have had lead roles in.
