There is nothing like enjoying two of our favorite pastimes at once. Movies with “good music” allow us to accomplish this dual enjoyment. Just this past weekend, the Australian band, Kids At Risk, played their first-ever show in the United States at Comic-Con in San Diego. The band performed at The Pacific Theater on Friday, July 22nd, immediately after the advance screening of “Griff the Invisible”. The band’s upcoming album is the soundtrack for this film, which stars True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten. Unfortunately, we were not able to catch this concert, but we’ll have another shot when the film is released in theaters.
Kids At Risk will continue to tour, playing two shows in West Hollywood and two shows in New York City before returning home. The band was able to cross over to American stages by the help of the Australian Council for the Arts, which issued the band a grant to travel to the United States. If their American success mimics their Australia achievements, we’ll be hearing about the Kids At Risk quite frequently.
The groups new single off the “Griff the Invisible” soundtrack, “Doing The Best We Can” has a beat that is fit for the superhero film. The melody contains a repetitious tempo that we imagine to hear when a superhero triumphs over the villain, but this thought is only a guess. We’ll have to wait until we are sitting in the movie theater with popcorn at hand to see if our prediction is correct.
