CNN’s star newsanchor Anderson Cooper will have a new daytime talk show, simply called “Anderson,” which will premiere September 12. In preparation for the upcoming premiere, Cooper gave press members a taste of what his show will be like, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to Cooper, the show will be about “the people behind the headlines.” The show will be pre-taped, which will allow him to keep doing his live nightly show, “Anderson Cooper 360.”
“I like the idea of having a show that represents all sides of my personality, from the serious stuff to the silly reality shows that I’m addicted to.” The show, in Cooper’s words, will also transmit to audiences his honest, true self, someone he says he tries to be all of the time when he’s in front of the camera lens.
Telepictures president Hilary Estey McLoughlin believes in Cooper’s ability to bring people an alternative to the void left by Oprah Winfrey. “There’s a sea change going on in daytime, and there’s never been more of an opportunity with Oprah going off of the air, Regis leaving and soap operas widdling down to very few,” she said.
