“There’s going to be more celebrities here than rehab,” says Katherine Heigl’s cahracter in the newly-released “New Year’s Eve” trailer. While the character was talking about people being in Times Square for New Year’s Eve, that statement could have applied to the movie itself. Just like its predecessor “Valentine’s Day,” it seems like everyone who’s alive in Hollywood is in this movie.

The trailer, which is embedded below, shows a lot but really nothing at all except for fluffy, happy, easy-going rom-com movie tidbits. Basically, the story is the same as “Valentine’s Day,” except that Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Biel are playing two different characters (I assume Hector Elizondo, who is also in the film, is playing a different character as well). A variety of people who are somehow interlinked to each other all find love and repair relationships during New Year’s Eve, with the culmination of the story ending at Times Square during the festive annual ball drop.

Aside from Heigl, Kutcher, Biel, and Elizondo, the film stars Robert De Niro, Halle Berry, Jon Bon Jovi, Ludacris, Ice Cube, Ryan Seacrest (as himself), Josh Duhamel, Lea Michele, Zac Efron, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vergara, Alyssa Milano, Hillary Swank, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Seth Meyers, John Stamos and John Lithgow. That’s just too many big names in one movie.

“New Year’s Eve” comes to theaters December 9.
