Remember in the late ’80s and ’90s when “Tales of the Crypt” would come on during the night hours of television? Remember being freaked out as a kid by the Cryptkeeper? Well, get ready to bring those fears for that puppet back to light, since “Tales From the Crypt” is coming back to television.
Deadline is reporting that a detailed pitch for the show as well as a writer’s bible have been completed. According to the article, the show will be different from the original version in that there will be a core cast of characters instead of a rotating “Twilight Zone”-style cast the original show used. “It will be an ongoing series that uses characters from the comic books in a more modern context,” said Andrew Cosby, co-creator of the SyFy show “Eureka” and co-founder of comic book publisher Boom! Studios, who is behind the revamp of the show along with Gil Adler, the producer of the original HBO “Crypt” series.
This news, along with TeenNick’s “The ’90s Are All That” and a possible “Captain Planet” movie, is like a childhood nostalgia explosion. I feel like I’m five years old again. What else will Hollywood bring back to television? “Rainbow Brite”?
