The dancing documentary ‘Jig’ has set a new Guinness World Record for “Longest Riverdance Line” in Nashville. Six hundred and fifty two dancers performed for five minutes and 40 seconds during the 2011 North American Irish Dancing National Championships, beating the old record of 392 dancers in Ireland in 2010. The video of the attempt can be seen on YouTube.

The performance was set up as part of ‘Jig’s theatrical campaign. With the help of the world record-breaking dance, on July 29 the film was released into additional theaters across the U.S. Since its debut on June 17, ‘Jig’ has earned $129,477, making it the 15th highest grossing documentary of 2011.

To help meet the fan’s demand for the film, Screen Media will also host a series of virtual screenings with ConstellationTV, the first global movie theater. During the week of August 17-21, North American fans will be able to pay $9.99 to watch exclusive screenings of ‘Jig,’ and talk with the film’s director Sue Bourne and several of its featured dancers.
