Leonardo DiCaprio is being considered for one of the two lead roles in the upcoming film adaptation of Boston Teran’s Western novel “The Creed of Violence”, Slashfilm is reporting. Todd Field has been attached to direct the movie for several years, and DiCaprio is reportedly eager to join him on the project.

The Creed of Violence follows an assassin named Rawbone in the 1910s. Lourdes, a government agent, comes into contact with Rawbone when he’s caught smuggling weapons into Mexico. Lourdes must accompany Rawbone into Mexico’s criminal world to find intelligence. However, the agent must struggle with a secret about his previous connection to Rawbone as he follows him.

Universal has acquired the rights to distribute the film. However, there’s no official word yet when it will be released, and if DiCaprio will accept the part of Rawbone or Lourdes.
