Are you a fan of the classic Al Pacino film “Scarface” but was too young or just wasn’t around when it was in theaters? Well, you’re in luck, because the film is coming back to theaters.

NCM Fathom is bringing the classic gangster film back for a one-time-only showing on August 31 at 7:30 p.m. Following the film will be a special segment showing how Scarface helped shaped our pop culture today.

” ‘In the spring of 1980, the port at Mariel Harbor was opened, and thousands set sail for the United States. They came in search of the America Dream. One of them found it on the sun-washed avenues of Miami…wealth, power and passion beyond his wildest dreams. He was Tony Montana. The world will remember him by another name…SCARFACE.’ ”

The cult classic, staring Al Pacino, tells the rags-to-riches story of Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee who comes to Miami and becomes a drug cartel kingpin during the cocaine boom of the 1980s. Since its release in 1983, the movie has become a cultural phenomenon. It’s famous black and white movie poster and well-known quotes are pervasive throughout pop culture and have influenced everyone from college kids to hip-hop and rap artists.
