Leonardo DiCaprio has beat out actor Johnny Depp for the No. 1 spot as Hollywood’s Highest Paid Actor of the year by Forbes. Reported by the financial news outlet, with numbers coming from May 2010 to May of this year, DiCaprio climbed to the top (for the first time) when his box office hit Inception earned him an amazing $77 million. The mind twisting movie, and the thirty-six year old’s ‘Shutter Island’ managed to take home over the $1 billion throughout theaters worldwide.
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp, who fell to second place on Forbes’ list of highest paid performers, didn’t do too shabby himself with his fan favorite ‘Alice in Wonderland’ that scored over the $1 billion mark, sending the Mad Hatter star home with a 50 million dollar paycheck. Trailing behind, but still impressive, was Adam Sandler for his hilarious movie Grown Ups, Men in Black’s Will Smith, and in Forbes’ fifth place, nice guy Tom Hanks for his role in ‘Larry Crowne’.
DiCaprio will appear next in a slew of new roles. Recently signed on to appear in Django Unchained as the character Calvin Candie, the thirty-six year old is also on board The Great Gatsby, 2011’s J. Edgar, with a rumored role in Creed of Violence.
