The upcoming horror film ‘The Banshee Chapter’ will be produced by Zachary Quinto’s production company Before The Door Pictures (BTD), Collider is reporting. The movie, which is being helmed by first time feature director Blair Erickson, who also wrote the screenplay, is set to begin principal photography this month in New Mexico.
‘The Banshee Chapter,’ which is being executive produced by Arnold Beutel, Quinto and BTD’s Neal Dodson and Sean Akers, will follow a young, female journalist who tries to find a missing friend. The friend has been experimenting with mind-altering drugs that have been developed in secret government tests. BTD is stating that the film is based on real documents, test subject testimony and uncovered secrets about programs run by the CIA.
Quinto has said BTD is excited to branch out in different areas of storytelling. The company premiered its debut film, the Kevin Spacey-led drama ‘Margin Call,’ which is based on the financial crash, at Sundance 2011. The studio is also currently working on an untitled romantic comedy, which is expected to include found footage. “The Banshee Chapter is an opportunity for us to tackle another film with its roots in reality, but through the lens of horror,” Quinto added.
