The star of ‘Crazy Stupid Love’, and former boss of ‘The Office’, Steve Carell will be producing a new interview series for the Showtime Network entitled ‘Laughing Stock’. Confirming the news at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, the network’s president of entertainment, David Nevins, shared that the new show will feature Comedian David Steinberg as the host. Steinberg will sit down with legends, and his well known peers in the industry to talk about their roots, discussing who over the course of their career has helped form and influence them.
“We have gathered a monumental assortment of comedic legends and their contemporary proteges,” said Carell in a statement from Showtime. “It’s enlightening, fascinating but more importantly, it’s funny.”
Some of the comedians slated for the first season include Saturday Night Live actress and Sarah Palin impersonator Tina Fey, Larry David, Jerry Seinfeld, the hilarious Chris Rock, Judd Apatow, Glee’s Jane Lynch, the crazy Sarah Silverman, Don Rickles, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks and comedian and talk show host Ellen Degeneres. And while Steve Carell will be working behind the scenes, he is also reportedly scheduled to sit down for his own personal interview on the show. The series could show up as early as January 2012.
