It is going to be a hectic couple of months for Switchfoot, but this congestion only correlates to a more exciting time for Switchfoot fans. The Grammy-winning and multi-platinum rock band, who currently has a new single, “Dark Horses”, out, will be performing on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ on September 19th and will be releasing their eighth studio record, “Vice Verses”, on September 27th. You guys better have that all marked down because there is more to come. On September 22nd, Switchfoot will launch a co-headlining tour with Anberlin in Wilmington, NC. A pre-sale for fan club members is underway at the Switchfoot ticketing site. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, August 12th at the band’s official site.

Before we get to discussing their upcoming album, we just have three more date notices to take care of. Switchfoot and Anberlin have teamed up with Eventful to give their fans in the cities where the tour is routed the opportunity to bring an exclusive VIP acoustic performance to their city. Fans have until September 15th to cast a vote for their city at the band’s Eventful page. The tour city with the most Demands will host the VIP performance prior to the regularly scheduled show.

At the Switchfoot and Amberlin concerts, the local chapters of StandUp for Kids will be collecting new and used backpacks. The backpacks will be used to distribute food and essentials to kids served by the organization. Switchfoot has raised more than $500,000 for San Diego-based children’s charities, including StandUp for Kids, with its annual concert/surf contest/silent auction, the Switchfoot Bro-Am.

Now, let’s briefly chat about Switchfoot’s final September dates. ESPN college football will host an exclusive stream of “Vice Verses” on September 7th and the album will provide the soundtrack to the NCAA games airing that day on ESPN. Switchfoot will perform at the San Diego Padres-Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game on September 18th at PETCO Park in San Diego.

Onto, in our opinion, the most exhilarating Switchfoot information, the band’s upcoming album, Vice Verses. Working with producer Neal Avron (Sara Bareilles, Weezer), Switchfoot recorded most of the album in their San Diego, CA home studio. Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Dr. Dre, Pink), who produced 2009’s Hello Hurricane, served as executive producer. “Hello Hurricane” was a success for Switchfoot, so we expect nothing less from Vice Verses. The pressure is on, Switchfoot!
