Disney more or less is something that’s almost practically in your blood if you grow up around Disneyland here in Southern California. Being a native to the SoCal area, we tend to experience the whole Disney experience at an early age. With the added bonus of growing up during Disney Animation’s golden age, I’ve been hooked to all things having to do with the House of Mouse for years on end.
So naturally it perks my interest to cover something completely Disney-fied like the D23 Expo. I’ve been to the annual San Diego Comic-Con for a few years, so it’s been interesting to compare and contrast the massive convention from Disney’s still-budding one. One of the many things they have in common with each other is the massive array of items up for sale, including one large Disney store which has a line you’d expect to see outside the Haunted Mansion instead of inside a convention center. Then again, D23 Expo is made for the fans so why not sell the best you have to offer? Along with that, it was amusing to find quite a few guys and gals dressed up in costumes of their favorite Disney characters ranging from “Tangled” to “The Little Mermaid.”
Take a look below to see what’s been shown on the floor so far:
A look at the front entrance with a very happy Fantasia-like Mickey Mouse.
Along with Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater. They’ll be put on display once Cars Land opens up next year at Disney’s California Adventure.
Inside the floor there was a booth dedicated to the outfits worn by the lead actors in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” Take a look at Captain Jack Sparrow’s garbs above.
In another section of the floor was an artist finishing up a painting of Winnie the Pooh as Tron.
One of the booths is dedicated to all things associated with It’s A Small World ride. Each day there’s a new theme for the booth (today it’s Scotland).
Be sure to keep your eyes locked here on ShockYa for more images from the floor, the costume gallery and panel coverage throughout the weekend on some of your most anticipated Disney films coming out in the next couple of years.
