Pearl Jam deserves much thanks from the world of alternative rock music. The band not only defined the genre’s sound, but it also proved to groups that time doesn’t have to destroy them. 2011 marks Pearl Jam’s 20th anniversary and the band has been celebrating all year long. Pearl Jam started off the year with the release of a new live compilation album, “Live on Ten Legs”, followed by the expanded reissues of “Vs. and Vitalogy” in March.
Now, it is time for the grand finale of celebrations. Pearl Jam will be hosting and headlining a Labor Day weekend concert at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, WI on September 3rd and 4th. The anniversary weekend concert will also include performances by fellow artists and friends including, The Strokes, Queens of the Stone Age, Mudhoney, John Doe, Joseph Arthur, Glen Hansard, Liam Finn and many more. That’s quite a way to honor the band’s career, but Pearl Jam deserves all the praise! You can be a part of this commemorative concert and purchase your tickets by heading over to the Pearl Jam 20th anniversary site.
You can keep on partying with Pearl Jam after the Labor Day show by checking out the release of Cameron Crowe’s film, “Pearl Jam Twenty”, which also includes a book and soundtrack album. Head back on over to the 20th anniversary site for more information.
