Heather Graham has signed on to star alongside Rob Corddry in FOX’s new comedy pilot ‘Little In Common,’ Deadline is reporting. Graham replaces Paula Marshall, who appeared in the original pilot, in the single-camera comedy series, which will be produced by Rob Thomas and WBTV. The news of the actress’ hiring comes after she had a recurring role on ‘Scrubs’ in 2005, and her 2006 sitcom ‘Emily’s Reasons Why Not’ was canceled by ABC after only one episode.
‘Little In Common’ follows the Wellers, played by Corddry and Graham, who move from California to Texas. They discover the move isn’t as easy as expected, as their Latina single mother neighbor, played by Alana Ubah, has a different approach to raising children than they do. Meanwhile, the Wellers’ other neighborhood acquaintances, the African American Burlesons, played by Kevin Hart and Gabrielle Union, take sports very seriously.
The FOX sitcom garnered positive buzz during pilot screenings, but it didn’t receive a series order in May 2011, when the network was ordering other series. But FOX ordered a new retooled pilot in consideration for its two-hour mid-season Tuesday comedy block. ‘Little In Common’ has a pending 13-episode order, and may be paired alongside returning comedy ‘Raising Hope.’ Other new contenders for the comedy block are fellow freshman sitcoms ‘New Girl’ and ‘I Hate My Teenage Daughter.’
