I don’t know if anyone is raring and waiting on the movie version of “Monopoly,” but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie, which is being produced by Hasbro and Ridley Scott, has now landed some writers.

Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have been put on the project. The writing team has worked on such movies as “People vs Larry Flynt,” “Ed Wood and, most recently, “1408.”

As everyone knows, “Monopoly” is a Hasbro/Parker Brothers game that has the players competing for economic supremacy of utilities and real estate based on real places in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The film adaptation of “Monopoly” was recently dropped by Universal. The studio also dropped film adaptations of the games “Ouija” and “Clue.” However, “Ouija” is still being chewed on my other studios and “Clue” is being worked on by Gore Verbinski and writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.

I really wonder how interesting a “Monopoly” movie could be. I mean, the original 1985 “Clue” is a great movie, so there’s a possibility for “Monopoly” to be, at the very least, entertaining. Perhaps it could have elements of “Wall Street.” Who knows.
