Seasoned actor John Malkovich could be joining 50/50 director Jonathan Levine’s adaption of the sci-fi romance ‘Warm Bodies’. According to several reliable news outlets, Malkovich is in talks to play the villain (General Grigi) of the story written by novelist Isaac Marion. If the Transformer’s star does ink a deal to appear he will join the already hefty cast line-up of leading actors Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer, as well as Rob Corddry, Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton, and Cory Hardrict.
For the unknown – Warm Bodies is said to be the next Twilight in the making. Between the appeal of zombies and super natural beings, mixed with a romance angle, Levine’s latest venture could be a massive hit for the director, especially given the recent book sales. It looks like fans are all gearing up for the next big franchise. If you aren’t up to par on Warm Bodies, check out the synopsis (via Amazon) below and tell us what you think about John Malkovich possibly joining the flick.
“R is a young man with an existential crisis–he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and stragely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His choice to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world. Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies explores what happens when the cold heart of a zombie is tempted by the warmth of human love.”
