We know we complain about technology a lot and its negative effect on the music world, but this latest news will avoid the pessimism. Thanks to the technological advances of the 21st Century, we can relive the magical summer of July 18, 1978 when The Rolling Stones played in Fort Worth, Texas. The multi-platinum rock ‘n roll band will allow fans to see the concert on a one-night in-theater event on October 18th at 7:30pm (local time).
The concert footage, titled “The Rolling Stones: Some Girls Live In Texas” was digitally remastered to HD with Cinema Surround Sound and includes a mixture of classic stones hits, such as “Brown Sugar”, “Honky Tonky Women”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Tumbling Dice”, paired with blues numbers and Chuck Berry covers. “The Rolling Stones: Some Girl Live In Texas”, also features songs from the then newly released “Some Girls” LP, including fan favorites “Beast of Burden” and “Miss You”.
The tour has never been released via broadcast, cable television or DVD before. If that last statement didn’t persuade you to check it out then this sentence will do the finishing touch. The special event will also include an exclusive 20-minute interview with Mick Jagger filmed in August 2011, where he reflects on the renowned 1978 U.S. tour.
Presented by NCM Fathom, More2Screen and Eagle Rock, tickets for “The Rolling Stones Girls Live In Texas” are available at participating theater box offices and online at Fathom Events. For a complete list of theater locations and prices, visit NCM Fathom website.
See, there you go. Technology can bring back sounds and images of the past that can then be passed down from one generation to the next. So, with these advancements, The Rolling Stones will be around forever and we have go no complaints about that.
