NBC has committed to a new upcoming project from Super 8’s J.J. Abrams and Supernatural creator Erik Kripke. According to Deadline, the pilot commitment is for a new series, entitled ‘Revolution’, that has been described as an “epic adventure thriller, but that’s where the details stop. Unfortunately anything else surrounding the show is being held under wraps with fans left to wonder. Kripke, who fans love and cherish as the brains behind the Winchester brothers, is writing the pilot while Abrams’ production company Bad Robot and Warner Brothers will be producing Revolution. The duo and Bryan Burk, Abrams partner, are slated to executive producer together.
Eric Kripke is currently working on another new series for the CW Network, the adaptation of DC comics super-spook Deadman. Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams is busy behind the scenes of his new series Alcatraz, the long running supernatural show Fringe, and Persons of Interest. A premiere date for Revolution has yet to be announced, but casting news is sure to be on the way.
