If you’re anxious to see “The Thing,” you might want to know about a contest Universal in which 50 people can win tickets to the premiere. According to the Facebook post, email a response about what you’re most looking forward to seeing in “The Thing”, along with your first and last name, to TheThingContest@gmail.com. You could win a pair of tickets to the world premiere of “The Thing” October 10 in Los Angeles. Act quickly though–winners will be announced Friday.
Also, remember to check out the Augmented Reality Game for the iOS(iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) and Android and the “It Becomes You” Youtube experience.
The Augmented Reality Flamethrower Game allows Android and iOS users to wage war against the aliens with flamethrowers in a 360-degree virtual environment and use facial recognition to “infect” themselves–complete with a split face showing the alien invading the body–using the augmented reality app. The app is free and can be downloaded here for Apple devices and here for Android devices.
You can download the iOS version of the app here and the Android app here.
“It Becomes You” allows you to make a video of yourself that will scare your friends, or you can share a video called “The Bikini So Small it should Be Outlawed.” Either way, the video starts out normally enough, but as the user watches, the page starts to shudder and The Thing launches itself through the page, accompanied by a horrific crash. At the end of the experience, the trailer for “The Thing” plays. The user can share the “Bikini” page with their friends by visiting this link. You can use a video of yourself and achieve the same scary effect by going here. Both can be shared with friends through social media. You can check out an example of “It Becomes You” below the post.
