“Cowboys & Aliens” will saddle up to be released on Blu-ray and DVD December 6, just in time for Christmas.
The special features on the DVD and Blu-ray include “Igniting the Sky: The Making Of ‘Cowboys & Aliens’, a featurette which includes interviews with Jon Favreau, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, visual effects companies Legacy Effects and ILM as well as stars Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde; “Finding the Story–‘Cowboys & Aliens,’ which features the filmmakers, writers and cast explaining how the film found its voice on screen; “The Scope of the Spectacle,” a look at the camerawork for the film and stuntwork by Terry Leonard and “Outer-Space Icon,” a look at the creation of Legacy Effects and ILM’s work on the alien designs.
Special effects exclusive to Blu-ray include “A Call to Action,” a profile of Jon Favreau; “Absolution,” a look at the recreation of an Old West mining town and its inhabitants; feature commentary with Favreau and “Conversations with Jon Favreau,” in which Favreau holds interviews with the cast and crew of the film. Other features exclusive to Blu-ray include U-Control, BD-Live, pocket BLU App, Flick View, Scene Explorer, and Behind the Scenes footage, storyboards and 3D models of the aliens and gadgets in the film.

“Daniel Craig (‘Casino Royale,’ ‘Quantum of Solace’) and Harrison Ford (the ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘Star Wars’ franchises) headline as adversaries obliged to join forces against a terrifying enemy, with a supporting cast that includes Olivia Wilde (‘TRON: Legacy,’ ‘The Change-Up’), Sam Rockwell (‘Iron Man 2’), Ana de la Reguera (‘Eastbound and Down’), Adam Beach (‘Flags of Our Fathers’), Paul Dano (‘There Will Be Blood’), Clancy Brown (‘The Shawshank Redemption’), Keith Carradine (‘Nashville’) and Noah Ringer (‘The Last Airbender’). The script for Cowboys & Aliens is by Star Trek’s Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof (television’s ‘Lost’), based on Platinum Studios’ graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
