The Hollywood Reporter states President Obama will be returning to Los Angeles October 24 for a fundraiser. The purpose of the fundraiser will be specifically aimed at gaining Latino support.
According to the article, no location has been set for the fundraiser, but the invitations will be out soon. The event is being organized by a group of Hispanic Obama supporters called the Futuro Fund, and the co-hosts of the event will be attorney Manny Sanchez and news anchor Giselle Fernandez. In order to attend the event, donations must be made within the range of $1,250 to $35,800.
As far as my political analysis, Obama could gain more Latino support if he outwardly shows he’s sensitive to the Latino voters’ issues as well as propose a national plan to counteract state plans like Alabama’s anti-immigration law. The law for the state is very discriminating, and instead of solving the problem, it only exacerbates it by including racial profiling. In any case, the contest for President is expected to be close, and as The Hollywood Reporter states, the large Latino vote could be the deciding factor between states changing from red to blue, just like the voting bloc was in 2008.
