‘Sin City’ director Frank Miller has confirmed that the characters of Nancy Callahan and Marv will return to the anticipated follow-up to the hit crime thriller, Coming Soon is reporting. The filmmaker has also said production will likely start in the spring of 2012.
‘Sin City 2’ will primarily be an adaptation of the book ‘A Dame to Kill For;’ however, it will also feature the short story ‘Just Another Saturday Night’ and two new stories, one involving Nancy. Miller developed that story “in order to tie things together and make it be united with the first,” he said. It has yet been confirmed if Jessica Alba, who portrayed the character in the first film, will reprise her role.
The return of Marv has surprised ‘Sin City’ fans, as Mickey Rourke, who portrayed the character in the first film, has expressed reluctance to return to the role. The actor has also yet to confirm if he will reprise his role in the sequel.
