CMJ Music Marathon in New York City is just a week away. Portland-based dream-pop group, Radiation City, will be heading on over to the Big Apple for the events. The CMJ stop is part of the quartet’s just announced second run of their national tour dates in support of their debut, “The Hands That Take You”, which is available now via Tender Loving Empire. The new set of dates follows the band’s first ever coast to coast tour, which includes two shows in NYC highlighted in a segment by local news affiliate NY1 and a recent sold-out performance in LA at the Troubadour with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
“The Hands That Take You” originally came out via cassette on Radiation City founders Cameron Spies and Lizzy Ellison’s cassette-only record label, Apes Tapes. We just took a listen to the group’s debut album today and immediately knew their sound was our kind of music. The common trait amongst the 11 tracks is the freedom that is exuded from Radiation City’s vocals and instrumental sounds. There is a hazy overtone floating over the tracks that illuminates and heightens the psychedelically liberating quality of “The Hands That Take You”. The aura of the album draws you right in and “takes you” through a colorful adventure.
You can hear the magic for yourselves by listening to the album at Paste’s Exclusive Album Stream.
While you are cruising the Internet, head on over to the Radiation City’s official site to check out their upcoming tour dates.
