“The Chronicles of Riddick,” made in 2004, was a box-office failure, but somehow, the want for a sequel was there, at least for Vin Diesel, who played the title character. However for the people that were hoping for a sequel, that hope has all but dashed at the news released by TMZ Saturday.
The site reported that the sequel for “Riddick” has been shut down momentarily due to money issues. Those issues come from Diesel’s production company, One Race Films. According to what TMZ learned from Michel Trudel, who owns the Montreal studio where the film was being shot, Trudel has kicked everyone who was working on the film out Wednesday and changed the locks because One Race Films hasn’t pay him on time. He told TMZ that he feels the issue will be resolved soon and that he is more than happy to let the production on the film resume once he gets his paycheck.
Other sources, according to the site, are saying that quite a few members of the film crew are getting upset about not being paid in over two weeks. TMZ also reported that when trying to contact Diesel and his team, their calls weren’t returned.
