Robert De Niro and John Travolta have been cast in the upcoming action film ‘Killing Season,’ which will begin production on January 16, 2012, Collider is reporting. ‘Ghost Rider’ director Mark Steven Johnson has signed on to helm the movie, which is based on a script written by ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’s scribe Evan Daugherty.
‘Killing Season’ is set in the Appalachian Mountains, and follows an American military veteran, played by De Niro, who has retreated into a remote cabin in the woods. A European tourist, portrayed by Travolta, unexpectedly shows up at the cabin, and the two men form an unlikely bond. But the tourist actually turns out to be a form Serbian soldier set on revenge.
Nu Image/Millennium picked up international sales for ‘Killing Season,’ in consultation with Corsan. Avi Lerner, Nu Image/Millennium’s co-founder, said the production company is “excited to be co-financing and co-producing this film with Corsan, and to be working again with (Robert) De Niro and (John) Travolta. We’ve never seen these two great actors on screen together before, and we’re excited to see what comes of the combination.”
Corsan CEO Paul Breuls added “I’ve loved this project from the moment I read (Evan) Daugherty’s remarkable script. It’s thrilling, imaginative, unexpected and dominated by two extraordinary characters on a collision course.”
