The U.S. movie trailer for Shame with Michael Fassbender and actress Carey Mulligan has made its way to the web. In the flick Fassbender plays a sex addict whose sister, with her own set of problems, comes to live with him. Directed by Steve McQueen, Shame is also grabbing headlines today after earning itself an NC-17 rating due to full frontal nudity and other adult content.
Talking about the Fox Search Light picture’s rating with THR recently, Steve Giulia of the studio said “I think NC-17 is a badge of honor, not a scarlet letter. We believe it is time for the rating to become usable in a serious manner… The sheer talent of the actors and the vision of the filmmaker are extraordinary. It’s not a film that everyone will take easily, but it certainly breaks through the clutter and is distinctive and original. It’s a game changer.”
Right on point, Giulia nailed Shame’s description. After checking out the U.S. trailer you can see where things will lead with Fassbender appearing to be on the hunt and hurting from a serious addiction most movies haven’t explored. Fassbender and Mulligan are also excellent together. The two have garnered rave reviews for their performances after Shame hit the festival circuit.
