Jessica Chastain seems to be Hollywood’s new it-girl, starring in “The Tree of Life,” “The Help” and “The Debt” all within a relatively short time. Now, she’ll be playing one of the most beloved princesses in a film.
According to IndieWire’s The Playlist, Chastain has been tapped to play Princess Diana in a biopic about the royal called “Caught In Flight.” As you can probably tell from the title, this film might be a lot more controversial than the rival Princess Di biopic that is being based on the book “Diana Closely Guarded Secret” by Diana’s bodyguard, Ken Wharfe. “Caught In Flight” will focus on the affair Diana had with Dr. Hasnat Khan, which lasted from 1995 to a few months before her death in 1997. The film will be directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, who also directed “Downfall” and “Das Experiment,” and the film’s screenplay is by “The Libertine”‘s Steven Jeffreys.
Also, according to the article, the film is already in pre-production and is scheduled to start shooting in March. Places where the film will be shot include Pakistan, Angola, Paris and the south of France. I think you can figure out what parts of the story are going to be shot in those place. What do you think about this news? How do you think Chastain will look in the role? More importantly, what do you think the royal family will think and say about this film, particularly Diana’s sons, Princes William and Harry?
