Russell Brand has been cast in, and signed on to produce, the upcoming Warner Bros. comedy ‘The President Stole My Girlfriend,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor will produce the film, which was written by Matt Portenoy, with his Branded Films partner Nik Linnen. The movie will be the first project set up at Brand’s newly-formed Warners-based banner.

‘The President Stole My Girlfriend,’ which is being executive produced by Beau Bauman, will follow the president taking the significant other of Brand’s sexy hippie character. Brand said the film was “inspired by the night I naively invited (Warners president) Jeff Robinov for dinner.”

Portenoy, who worked on the well-received rewrite on the in-development remake of ‘Porky’s,’ made his first major sale with ‘The President Stole My Girlfriend.’ He also penned a segment for the upcoming comedy anthology ‘Movie 43,’ which is being produced by Relativity Media’s Peter Farrelly; his segment was directed by Griffin Dunne, and stars Emma Stone.
