The casting list for Quentin Tarantino’s “Southern” “Django Unchained” has been one of the biggest developing stories in entertainment, mostly due to the against-the-grain casting, and it’s about to get even bigger and crazier now that there’s news that Sacha Baron Cohen might be joining the cast.
According to MovieLine, Baron Cohen could be playing Scotty Harmony, a slave owner who buys Kerry Washington’s character Broomhilda as a “female companion.” Sacha Baron Cohen is an actor who’s “type” hasn’t been pinned down yet, such as playing the hero or bad guy it would seem. Or he’s one of those actors that don’t have a “type,” so it’ll be very interesting to see him play an uber-nasty guy such as Harmony.
The cast lined up for “Django Unchained” so far along with Washington is Jaime Foxx in the title role, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell. The story involves Django, a slave-turned-bounty hunter, setting out to save his wife from Calvin Candie (DiCaprio), a plantation owner in Mississippi.
