For some reason, this season of “Dancing With the Stars” has been one of the most contentious seasons ever. Monday night’s episode was no exception.
As reported by The Huffington Post and The Hollywood Reporter, after soccer star Hope Solo performed the Paso Doble with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, judge Carrie Ann Inaba got onto Chmerkovskiy for smiling of all things. If you haven’t been watching this season, there has been a lot of back-and-forth between Chmerkovskiy and the judges where scoring is concerned, but this time, it wasn’t Chmerkovskiy with the short fuse–it was his Solo.
“Maks was smiling because we should be smiling,” she said to Brooke Burke. “So Carrie Ann, thank you, Maks was smiling. This is my partner. Finally we’re happy!” Even though Chmerkovskiy was trying to shield Solo from talking back, he did look mighty pleased with her standing up for him.
After the show, when asked about the tete-a-tete by reporters, Chmerkovskiy said, “F– Carrie Ann, next question.”
“I think Carrie Ann has an issue. I don’t know what it is, but I would love to know so we can address it,” he said. “As of now, I have no clue what the hell she was talking about.”
Neither do I, Maks. As an avid watcher of “DWTS,” I didn’t understand why there was such an issue with him smiling. He obviously wasn’t smiling out mal intent, so I don’t understand. In any case, Solo and Chmerkovskiy were eliminated Tuesday, one week before the finals of the competition.
