It’s the most wonderfully stressful time of the year for football fans where they yank their hair out in anticipation as to whether or not their team will make it into the playoffs come January. In order to keep yourself in the football mindset and not bite your nails about whether or not your team has any sort of chance to make it past the regular season, you should divert your attention to EA’s NFL Blitz. The cover for the new Electronic Arts’ sports video game this year will not be determined by the higher-ups but rather by the fans, meaning you.
This year at the 2011 Video Game Awards fans have a chance to sit down and vote for either Pro Bowlers Roddy White, Ray Rice or Patrick Willis to make it on the first ever digital cover for NFL Blitz. You’ll be able to cast your vote during this year’s 2011 Video Game Awards (#VGA) as it’s shown live this December 10th at 8 PM/5 PM PST. Towards the end of the ceremony Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Jerry Rice will announce the winners. Thank goodness we’re not voting on who will get on the forever-cursed Madden cover. “I can’t think of a better way to welcome back the beloved NFL Blitz franchise than by having two of the greatest athletes to ever put on a helmet announce which one of their contemporaries –Roddy White, Ray Rice or Patrick Willis – will represent the game when it hits the PLAYSTATION Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade in January,” said Geoff Keighley, executive in charge, publisher relations, Spike.
“Considering there are a multitude of fans of the legendary NFL Blitz games, we are thrilled to usher in a new era for the franchise with the all-new title, which is in high definition for the first time,” said EA SPORTS marketing director Anthony Stevenson. “Fittingly, this will also be the first time EA SPORTS will honor a digital cover athlete and we are excited that the fans will be such an integral part of this milestone.”
