One of the best parts of the Christmas season is the Christmas Special. From live-action to stop-motion, Christmas specials make the season much more fun. Needless to say, there are a ton of Rankin-Bass specials on this list. Here are ShockYa’s top 10 (in no particular order):

#1 “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” (1964): This Rankin-Bass special goes without saying, frankly. Everyone knows about Rudolph and his glowing nose. The special throws in a surprising “father-issues” angle with Rudolph’s father, Donner, not accepting his son’s special gift in the beginning. That angle of not fitting in also goes with another character in the story, Hermey the elf, who wants to be a dentist instead of a maker of toys. Also, Burl Ives provides the voice of the snowman narrator, which is awesome.

There are a lot of Christmas specials left off the list, such any and all Muppet and Sesame Street Christmas specials. What specials–listed or not–are your favorites to watch during this time? Give your opinions below.
