Ice Cube is confirming that he’s bringing his popular ‘Friday’ series back for a fourth installment, TMZ is reporting. The actor added that the entire original cast, including Chris Tucker, will return to the third sequel.
A rep for Ice Cube’s production company, Cube Vision Productions, confirmed the news, saying “Absolutely yes the studio is in the process of getting the entire cast to do another ‘Friday.’ The statement added that Ice Cube “is very excited about this and has every intention to make it happen.”
The news comes after TMZ spoke with Ice Cube in November 2011, when he confirmed that both he and Tucker were both in agreement to reunite for a third sequel. However, they were both still working on their contracts. There have been conflicting reports, however, whether Tucker would return as unemployed slacker Smokey; he didn’t return for the first two sequels, as he has said the drug lifestyle portrayed in the films conflict with his personal beliefs. But he’s reportedly considering returning, as he needs the money, due to his financial problems.
Ice Cube’s confirmation also comes after fellow ‘Friday’ actor, Tommy ‘Tiny’ Lister, who played DeBo in the series, said he met with Tucker on his private jet to discuss getting the original cast back together for another film. Lister added that Tucker and Cube had meetings to discuss the pending fourth film.
